Lessons Learned...in the past few years

  1. Things are not always what they seem.
  2. Rarely do we know the whole story.
  3. Life is not fair.
  4. God is.
  5. Accept responsibility. Don't blame.
  6. Forgive 70 x 7.
  7. Trust no one--well, maybe a few.
  8. Evil is real. Love is greater.
  9. Fatigue is a very bad thing.
10. Keep getting up.
11. Keep looking up.
12. Don't look back.

Craving a Simpler Time----February, 20, 2014

am allowing my subscriptions to women's magazines like Woman's Day and Family Circle and Good Housekeeping to lapse. Over the last few years, they have become nothing more than catalogs...selling stuff from page to page to page. Gone are the inspiring stories about small town heroes. Gone are craft patterns and how-to articles and activities to do with your kids. Now it's all about products recommended by "The Doctors" to reduce your wrinkles and improve your sex life or how to put your child's teacher in her place when it comes to behavioral issues... Craving a simpler time.

Why does it seem like everyone, and I mean everyone, has their hand out? Reminds me of the one and only time my hubby and I crossed the Mexican Border into Tijuana during a visit to our San Diego to visit our Marine son. As soon as we crossed the border, people dressed as nuns and priests shoving their hands in our faces asking, "Dinero, por favor. Dinero, por favor." Tonight a friend who had not been in touch for a year called out of the blue. At the end of the conversation, the true reason for the call came out--he wanted to know who he could contact at the Clinic to pitch a new phone service he is promoting. Lawyers, Dentists, Oprah, even churches...especially pseudo church organizations and pop-preachers have their hands out in the name of God. I trust no one except the One. "What I say unto you I say unto all. Watch!" --Jesus      Craving a simpler time...

Dull-lympics. Both my hubby and I have found that this year's Winter Olympics have lacked the luster and inspiration of previous years. Ms. Gold seems to be an entitled princess. An increasing percentage of our Olympians are professional athletes. A couple of female bobsledders who didn't medal admitted in an interview that they will start working toward the next Olympics the next day. This is their whole life. They obviously have enough corporate backing and don't have to work real jobs. This is all they do?  NBCs coverage has been mediocre at best.... Craving a simpler time.
